Many students study abroad, and as there are many acclaimed colleges and universities in the United States of America, scholarships for foreign students around the world have been popping up.

Fulbright Foreign Student Program

This Fulbright Program is for foreign students wanting to take a master’s or doctor’s degree in the United States of America. It’s a government-funded scholarship for over 4,000 foreign students in around 155 countries all over the world.

The scholarship grant includes tuition, airfare, a monthly allowance, and health insurance, among others.

Deadline for applications is usually from February to October.

Hubert Humphrey Fellowships in USA for International Students

The Hubert Humphrey Fellowship is another government-funded scholarship program for foreign students. It’s meant for professionals who want to attain enhancement and development in their fields of work.

Chosen Fellows are grouped with 14 other people or less, based on their area of interest or work. The government will choose their institution or university for them.

Over 200 Fellows are granted a scholarship every year. These participants must be those with already five years’ work experience, with a record of public service, and must have graduated with a degree from college.

The scholarship program includes: tuition and school fees, living allowance, book allowance, accident and sickness insurance coverage, airfare, and professional development allowance for events like field trip and conferences.

Harvard University Scholarship

Harvard University also offers scholarship programs, but competition is tight. Currently, there are 35 programs Harvard offers to foreign students from different countries around the world: for the Arab League countries, Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Croatia, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Spain, and the UK.

Karsh International Scholarship Program

The Karsh International program is a merit-based full scholarship for foreign students who want to study at Duke University.

The program started in 2011 – 2012, and is funded by Bruce and Martha Karsh, entrepreneurs and philanthropists.

The scholarship program covers tuition, board and lodging, mandatory school fees, and other costs that might come up during the academic year.

The scholarship also offers $7,000 for research and service opportunities during the three summers of the undergraduate degree the participant chooses to study.

University of Oregon Scholarship Programs

The University of Oregon offers several programs for foreign students:

The International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) Tuition Scholarship chooses 30 – 40 international students annually. These students are given $7,000 – $27,000 tuition grant. The scholarship is renewable every year.

Summit and Apex Scholarships are merit-based awards based on high school grades. Summit gives $9,000, while Apex gives $4,000 to the participant annually. The scholarship is also renewable, for up to 4 years.

The New School Competition

The New School Competition awards one full-tuition and one part-tuition scholarship for a bachelor’s degree at its five campuses: Parsons The New School for Design (in either New York or Paris), The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Mannes College The New School for Music, Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, and The New School for Drama.

The scholarship only covers tuition and fee charges. The competition happens for every academic year, with ten participants getting chosen.

New York University Wagner Scholarship

The NYU Wagner offers several scholarship programs. Under the merit-based scholarship program, the school offers Public Service Scholarship and Executive Leadership Scholarship. There are also scholarship programs for the alumni. There is also the Nneka Fritz Scholarship, which offers full tuition grant to students from historically underrepresented groups.

Illinois State University Scholarships

Illinois State University offers several scholarships for domestic and international students.

 The school’s Presidential Scholarship awards $11,000 per year to an incoming freshman, who has at least a 1340 SAT.

The University Scholarship, meanwhile, awards $6,000 renewable annually to an incoming first year from an underrepresented group.

Redbird Academic Scholarship offers $1,000 – $4,000 per year to a new first year who has scored at least a 1150 SAT with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 – 4.0.

American University Emerging Global Leadership Scholarship

The AU Emerging Global Leadership Scholarshippromotes educational access and opportunity while enhancing international diversity”. It covers billable expenses like full tuition, and board and lodging. It doesn’t cover health insurance, books, and airfare.

The scholarship is awarded to only one international student who wants to study in the Unites States. Applicants must have scored at least a 95 on TOEFL iBT or 600 on paper-based TOEFL, or 7.0 on IELTS.

Wein International Scholarship Program

The WISP at Brandeis University is described as “a first-of-its kind bringing students from every corner of the globe to campus and engaging the entire community to be active global citizens.

The program, since being established in 1958, has brought 860 students from over 112 countries to study at Brandeis University.

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must submit a CSS/PROFILE from College Board.
