The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Offers Online Class Positive Psychology
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is offering an online class on the subject of Positive psychology.
In this day and age when more and more people are suffering stress and struggles presented by modern life, there is an undeniable need for a more positive approach that would allow individuals and their communities to thrive.
Positive psychology can be considered to be the systematic study of happiness.
While it follows scientific principles and methods, it differs from traditional psychology in the sense that it focuses more on the things that can make people feel happy and fulfilled, instead of concentrating on dysfunction.
Positive psychology is all about empowering individuals to lead more meaningful lives.
UNC recognizes the importance of cultivating this school of psychology, which is why it is offering this online class.
It will be taught by Dr. Barbara L. Fredrickson, the Director of the Social Psychology Doctoral Program and the Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology Laboratory.
The class will last for six weeks and would have video lectures for each week. Students should be ready to commit two to four hours per week to take the class.
The course can be accessed for free, but it is recommended that students go for the paid version to experience the class in full.
Paying for the course would allow the student to access all materials and resources that would be needed to get a Course Certificate.
It should be noted though that the certificate would not represent actual academic credit from UNC.
Considered to be the oldest public university in the United States, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has a long tradition of providing quality college education at a price that is affordable to a lot more students.
Online Course Positive Psychology
The school is continuing its tradition by offering online courses that would allow more people to access classes that in the past would have only been available to full-time university students.
The Positive Psychology course will be discussing findings from the research that have been conducted Dr. Fredrickson and others.
On top of discussing relevant research information, the course will also offer some useful tips on how positive psychology can be applied to the students’ everyday life.
Though positive psychology is not as well-known as other branches of psychology, it has a great deal of promise.
While other branches are all about coping and dealing with psychological issues, positive psychology is all about finding the means to lead healthy and meaningful lives where those issues would have lesser chances of surfacing or developing.
For students who wish to get Course Certificate but are unable to afford the cost of the paid version, there is a Financial Aid being offered which could allow them to take the class and get the full version.
This is a great opportunity for students of psychology and everyone who wants to learn a thing or two that can improve the quality of their lives.
